The Topman is responsible for cutting and preparing pipes and fittings for installation.
This person also assists Pipe Layer with installation as needed, locating utilities, and other duties as assigned by the project foreman.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Cutting pipe to length and preparing pipe and fittings for installation by the pipelayer.
Assisting pipelayer with installation as needed.
Securing pipes, manholes and other materials and equipment to backhoe before lowering into or removing from trench.
Ensures that materials for pipelayer and other workers are ready as needed on the job site.
Locating and hand-digging existing utility lines.
Works closely with other crew members using hand signals to coordinate work and ensure safety.
Maintain orderliness, cleanliness and safety at jobsite.
Follow Supervisor's instructions closely.
Position Requirements SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS &
Experience:
Proven experience as Topman of 2 years Ability to work safely in/around trenches and heavy equipment In-depth knowledge of utility construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines Basic reading, writing, and math skills Knowledge and experience of running a transit Strong verbal communication skills as well as hand signals Ability to lift 80 pounds Have a positive work attitude Problem-solving abilities Punctual and On-Time Must be able to pass a backround check and drug test Valid driver's license COMMENTS:
